Vanessa is a self taught fine art photographer from Singapore with a mix of styles ranging from pictorialism to cinematic. Using photography and digital imaging, Vanessa makes art that are emotive and rich in atmosphere. She draws much of her inspiration from music, songs and movies. She admires Annie Leibovitz for her narrative in her commercial works and her execution.
Vanessa believes that photography is not only used for story telling, but it also helps to provide some emotional catharsis. "I enjoy taking my images beyond traditional portraiture by injecting a sense of narrative to them. It allows me to transport myself and the viewers to another place.” says Vanessa.
Vanessa is no stranger to international exposure. Her list of accolades include the Master Photographers Association's 2012 International Master Photographer of the Year, Overseas Portrait Photographer, and Fine Art Pictorial Category Winner. Being one of the 101 photographers in the world to showcase her work in the prestigious Carla Sozzani Gallery in Milan at the “A Glimpse of Photo Vogue 101 Photographers/ 101 Pictures” exhibition organised by Vogue Italia, is a testimony to her capabilities.
